What we do

At The Kindling Coffee Company we strive to make sure that everything we serve is local, organic or fairtrade.

That means perfect cups of fairtrade coffee, hand-cut organic sandwiches and trays of freshly baked pastries, cakes, brownies and waffles.

We know that the makings of good food isn't rocket science. You just need the best and freshest local and organic produce, an unfussy menu and a relaxed friendly place to sit and meet and eat. Our bacon baps and fish finger butties are best sellers in both our shops and sum up our passion for fab comfort food.

We support the local economy and local producers. That means no unnecessary food miles and no middlemen in juggernauts.

We also support the local community. In Widcombe, our back room is available for free hire for clubs, groups and meetings, and both our stores have notice boards that let everyone in the neighbourhood know about sales, events and exhibitions. We have a toy box for kids and offer free baby cappuccinos.

We even have our own local football team: Kindling United, and there’s talk of a Kindling Book Club starting in early 2008. Drop us a line or pop in if you would be interested in signing up!

We also have free Wi-Fi for every customer. Just order a latte, flip open your laptop and you can sit either of our sunny shops and work. At Chelsea Road we also have a PC with internet access, charged by the hour.

A Mini Wholefood Store is also a feature at Chelsea Road with an entire wall dedicated to a wide range of local, organic and ‘free-from’ foods including baby food, bread mixes, cereals, syrups and chocolate.

Both stores are well known for their relaxed, friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. Whether you want brekkie-on-the-run or a laid-back lunch, Kindling aims to serve it with a personality and flavour that is a far cry from the coffee chain stores that have taken over the British High Street.
